TEDxCortina 2024: NOW – Contemporary Paths

Cortina d’Ampezzo is preparing to host one of the most anticipated editions of TEDxCortina, an event that, now in its eighth edition, continues to grow in popularity and importance. This year’s theme, “NOW – Contemporary Paths,” invites participants to explore the concept of “now” in all its facets through a program full of stimulating talks and unique networking moments. On August 23, 2024, TEDxCortina will be held at Rifugio Col Gallina, a breathtaking location at the foot of Monte Lagazuoi on the Passo Falzarego. This natural setting will offer participants an unforgettable day immersed in the beauty of the Dolomites. The refuge is not only a starting point for enchanting summer and winter excursions but also a place of authentic hospitality and spectacular landscapes.

The 2024 Theme: NOW

“NOW” is not just a temporal reference but a call to action and reflection on the boundaries and opportunities of the present. The term “ora” (Italian for now) derived from the ancient Greek ὥρα, presents interesting nuances because it refers to the seasons, a limited period of time, or more generally, it expresses the sense of boundary. This theme will guide participants through the complex paths of the contemporary, inspired by the white-red trail markers indicating mountain paths, symbolizing orientation and guidance.

Outstanding Speakers

TEDxCortina 2024 will feature internationally renowned speakers ready to share their groundbreaking ideas and inspiring stories. Some of these are:

• Daniele Cassioli, a blind water ski athlete from birth, who has won numerous world and European titles. Daniele is an example of resilience and determination, and his speech promises to be a great source of inspiration.

• Giovanni Vozzi, full professor of Electronic Bioengineering at the University of Pisa, who will present ElectroSpider, the first Italian printer of human tissues and organs. An innovation that opens new frontiers in regenerative medicine.

• Stefano Cappello, CEO of Limenet, who will illustrate how his company is industrializing a natural process to absorb carbon dioxide and combat ocean acidification.

• Chiara Schettino, founder of Rosso, who will share her personal experience and commitment to solving the shortage of blood bags, a highly relevant social issue.

• Luna Bianchi, CEO and co-founder of Immanence, a legal expert in human rights and a member of the World Economic Forum Working Group for Metaverse Governance, who will talk about diversity and human rights in the context of new technologies.

Event Schedule

The day will start with the opening of registrations at 8:30 AM, followed by a welcome breakfast. The talks from various speakers will begin at 10:00 AM, offering food for thought and stimulating debate among participants. During the breaks, various thematic areas will be active, including movement workshops, spaces for children, pet-friendly areas, and expo. The “picnic of ideas,” scheduled for 1:30 PM, will be an informal opportunity to continue discussions in a relaxed and natural setting. The day will end with a networking dinner at Baita Resch, reserved for partners, investors, authorities, speakers, and former speakers, offering a unique opportunity to create valuable connections.

Networking and Meeting Opportunities

In addition to the main day, TEDxCortina organizes a series of side events to foster networking among participants and the local community. On August 21, there will be a networking aperitif on Corso Italia, open to the public, and a press conference at the Grand Hotel Savoia, followed by an aperitif on the panoramic terrace.
